Susu Mamas PNG Inc. is a non-government organisation (NGO) that was formed over 30 years ago to support and promote best feeding practices for infants and young children in PNG. Susu Mamas now has health facilities in: Goroka, Lae, Mt Hagen and Port Moresby. The emphasis is on the provision of integrated Family and Youth health services at; urban clinics, rural and settlement outreach clinics and joint services with other government and non-government health care providers.

All appointments within Susu Mamas are based on merit that is the most suitable applicant is offered the position. Recruitment decisions are based on the qualifications, experience, work performance and capabilities of an applicant relevant to the position. Confidentiality will be maintained and the privacy of all applicants respected.

Your application should include your resume / CV and a copy of your academic transcription and certificate, Diploma or Degree. Registration Certificate if available. Before preparing your application, you may wish to telephone the contact person to discuss any queries you may have. Your other preparation may include:

Writing your resume / Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Your resume / CV needs to be up to date and outlines details of: post school education (eg certificates, diploma, Bachelor degree) and employment (or work experience) history. Your resume / CV should be in chronological order, identifying the type of work (include student placements) you have performed and your responsibilities. Provide details of the organisations you have worked for and the period of your employment. Personal information such as age, marital status, number of dependants, etc. is not relevant to the requirements of the position and should not be included in your resume / CV.

Referee information

Your application must include the names and contact numbers of at least two current referees. One of your referees must be a current supervisor/manager/lecturer.It is important that your referees are aware that you are applying for the job as the selection committee will contact your referees to obtain details of your performance and ability to fulfil the selection criteria. Written referee reports are not required.

The role of the selection committee

The selection process will be undertaken by a committee of at least two people. The role of the selection committee is to:

  • assess each applicants’ suitability, through an interview process
  • ensure all necessary verifications occur and
  • make a recommendation to the Management of the applicant judged to have the greatest merit.
The interview

Applicants who are invited to attend an interview will be asked a series of questions to determine their strengths and weaknesses in relation to the selection criteria and the requirements of the position. The purpose of the interview is to provide the applicant with the opportunity to expand on information presented in their application and to enable the selection committee to gather further information for the assessment process. Interview questions will be directly related to the position. At the conclusion of the interview, you will have an opportunity to ask questions of the selection committee, pertaining to the organisation and position.

What to bring to the interview

When attending the interview you should bring the following documents with you:

  • Original qualifications (as relevant to the selection criteria)
  • Original registration and licence documents (as appropriate)

Offer of employment

If you are selected as the preferred applicant, you will usually be advised by phone. We would like to know your decision as quickly as possible. If you accept the position, a formal letter of offer including an employment contract will be sent to you as confirmation of the verbal offer.
